Hi there! Here is another origami earrings picture tutorial. This time I used origami ninja stars to make the earrings. A while back when my kids were crazy about fidget spinners I used origami ninja starts to make the spinners and I recorded a video. You can watch that here.
What you will need:
Paper. Not necessarily origami paper. I used music sheets, accounting ledger, scrapbooking paper.
Scissors
Ruler
Hole punch 1/8″
Ear wires
Jump Rings
Technique:
Cut the paper into 3″ x 3″ squares. Then fold and cut in half. You will have 3″ x 1.5″ strip. You will fold each strip separately and later interlock the two together.
Fold the strip in half on the long side. Then fold that in half.
Fold each end to the crease in opposite direction.
Flip it over and fold the square ends into triangles.
Then fold each triangle end.
The ends will unfold but that’s ok. Repeat the steps with the other half of your paper and you will have two identical pieces that look like this:
Lay the two perpendicular on top of each other. It will look like a plus sign.
Then fold each end in starting with the one on left. It’s similar to closing up a box.
When you come to the last one you will tuck it in underneath.
Your ninja star is done. Make one more to get a pair. I glued some faux gems in the center as an embellishment.
On one of the points punch a hole with 1/8″ hole punch. Add the jump ring and the ear wire into the hole.
These have been so fun to make. I’ve used music paper, book pages, junk mail envelopes turned inside out, scrapbooking paper. Really you can use anything, as long as it’s lightweight and is able to be folded easily.
Have fun!!
