I went on a day trip to Omaha. It was unplanned. My mom asked if I’d go with her to check on a house she was renting out. The tenants left a few months back and we weren’t sure what condition they left the home. I am trying to remember the last time I was there and I think it was in the fall of 2012 for a memorial service for my mother-in-law.
Omaha is where I graduated high-school, and went to college, and met my husband, and it’s where my parents lived when they first came in the US. I lived there for only 5 years, but it feels like home. I have to admit I have a few places I call home. I left Omaha in 2002 after I graduated from college and got married. My husband is from there, but I don’t think he shares my feelings about the place. He does not like it.
I have many many many good friends who still live in Omaha and I keep in touch regularly. If my recent trip wasn’t only for a day I would have like to catch up in person with my friends there. But since I work for an airline and getting there in/out in one day is not terribly difficult, I may do this day trip to Omaha again soon.
Here is a few photos I snapped, mostly as I drove around.
