On a recent school day my son was sick and stayed home. So we made sock monsters out of my daughter’s old stockings.
We used instructions from a book we picked up at the local library called ‘Stupid Sock Creatures’ by John Murphy. This is our first one.

That is fabulous! I love the bright stripes, the huge eyes, and that amazing tongue. My sons and I made sock monsters this summer and my 9 year old got the bug and has since made several sock monsters, including a sock Cthulhu. Maybe your son will become a sock monster factory too.
