I can’t remember where I first saw this cool idea of using an old CD to make mono prints. I’ve been wanting to try it for some time and when I noticed that my husband was cleaning a huge box of CDs that have been in our attic for a long long time I knew that it was time for me to get the paint out and play.
What you will need:
- Old CD that you no longe intend to listen to
- Cardstock paper
- Acrylic Paint
- Brushes
- Q-tips
Steps:
Cut your paper down to 5″ x 5″. Apply paint on to your CD. Any color will work, but the best results is when you use something contrasting to your paper. Black always wins if this is too hard for you to decide.
After applying paint use a Q-tip or (your fingers, or anything to lift paint of the CD and make a design) draw on top of your CD: petals, lines, dots…..in circular fashion to create a mandala or flower looking design.
Lay one of you papers on top of the CD and press well with your hands all around to get a good impression. I had a few of mine fail, because you see I live in Arizona and the paint dries so quick.
Lift your print.
I cut mine down to the circular shape.
Have fun printing!!!!!
