I like colorful and easy crafts made with simple and inexpensive materials. So I picked up some washers at the hardware store at .11 cents each and I went to work. I already have a box full of embroidery floss and the rest was just fun. Actually my kids helped me with this craft, it was a good exercise for them to teach them how to hand sew.
What you will need:
- Washers
- Embroidery floos
- Felt
- Needle
- Scissors
- Glue
- Hair clips and/or ring base depending if you want to make hair accessories or jewelry
Start by gluing on the washer on your felt. You don’t really need this step, but if you are not an experienced crafter this can save you some frustration. Start sewing from the bottom going through the inner circle of the washer. Then insert the needle on the edge of the outer circle of the washer. This is like wrapping the thread over the washer except you are sewing it through the felt. About quarter way through fasten the first color thread on the back and start with a new color repeating all of the above.
Once you are done cut the felt around the washer leaving a tiny edge about 1/4″. Using glue (I used Gem Tac, but E6000 will work too, or any glue that is suitable for fabric), glue your embroidered washer on a hair clip or ring base.
Have fun with mixing colors for your color wheel!!!
