There was a time when I was terrified to make a mark on a blank page. The lack of confidence in knowing what I am doing created that fear. Making ATCs help me get over it. They are small. You only have to fill in a small space. And if it doesn’t turn out to the way you envisioned, then no big waste. Move on to the next one, and the next one. And when I create with that mindset (if you don’t like it, move on to the next piece), I end up liking everything I create.
I am happy to tell you that I’ve moved on from paper to canvas. It’s still small what I create, but it’s a move in the right direction.
These are my first 3″ x 3″ canvases. I tried to picture the woven rugs in Macedonia. I forgot to bring one home, and painting them was the next best thing.
They are typically more colorful than what I’ve created. In time, I will use more color. For now this is it.
